Equity
Members of a community need not all be equal, but for a community to be united and healthy, differences must be equitable.
In most communities, some members have greater status, whether due to unequal contribution, ownership, elected authority, etc. And there are bound to be disagreements which must be resolved.
As long as the members recognize the fairness of any inequality, and as disputes are resolved in a way considered equitable to all, the community can remain united and strong. If some members are seen as abusing their positions to gain unfair advantage and influence, divisions will arise that will weaken the community.
